A wardrobe devoid of classics
I’m not what you would call a classic dresser, favouring “flash-in-the-pan”, trendy pieces in lieu of those that might give me more than one season of wear. It causes me a lot of problems, sartorially speaking, namely because every fall I feel like I’m starting from scratch minus a collection of boyfriend jeans, some black stilettos, a leather jacket and a couple of chunky knits. So, I decided to make a list of those classic pieces that I think would give my wardrobe more longevity and right up there with a neutral tote, a white shirt, and the perfect cropped cigarette pant, is a pair of ballet flats. Sure, I’ve owned a pair but again, they had a big, buckle detail that I decided I hated just a few months in and so I gave them away. What I needed were a pair of no-frills flats in a go-with everything nude or metallic–and just like that, Sanuk delivered. I’ve been an ambassador for the brand over the last year or so and since I started, they have totally expanded on their signature “Sidewalk Surfers”, that, although comfortable, are pretty sporty. Among their newer offerings are streamlined, slip-on running shoes, mocs, and these ballet flats. I’m looking forward to putting the wardrobe staple to good use.
