Stepping out of my comfort zone for April's Style Challenge with Le Chateau

I’m not a huge fan of girly florals. In fact, I can’t remember the last time I wore a floral dress but I can bet with confidence that it was probably smocked and had a matching headband c. 1985. And that’s not to say I don’t like florals. I always find myself admiring looks on others that I wouldn’t necessarily feel myself in. Nevertheless, when Le Chateau sent me my style challenge for April, it was a real challenge! I needed inspiration and recalled photos of the SS15 runways where bold florals in bright colours dominated. What made the trend so palatable to me though, is the fact that the strong florals on the catwalk were grounded with minimalist shoes and accessories in graphic black and white, giving the potentially saccharine looks necessary edge. For my version of SS15 florals, I chose the brightest coloured floral dress I could find in-store (this scuba knit halter is also super stretchy which not only makes it comfortable for your night on the town, but it’s very forgiving for a pregnant lady, too!), and paired it with streamlined accessories in basic black.

I tested out the “visible bobby pin” look with my floral ensemble and I loved it–plus it’s insultingly easy to do!
