Wardrobe Remix

Affected by the malaise that has gripped this country owing to the seemingly unending cold, I find myself in a foul mood every morning when it’s time to get dressed. Oh, today I think I’ll wear my delicately draped blouse–under a sweater, a wool coat, and a chunky knit scarf of course. And don’t even get me started on footwear. Why are sandals even a thing here? We barely get to wear them. When my wardrobe turns on me to the point where the line between being uninspired and feeling physically sick at the thought of wearing my grey sweatshirt again is all but gone, I turn to Pinterest. Street style snaps have been my salvation this winter in their ability to help me remix old standbys into completely new looks. A different vantage point is priceless in the quest to breathe new life into your tired (at this point, exhausted), seasonal wardrobe and I always marvel at how I never thought of pairing items in my closet the way someone else has. Take this outfit for instance–it’s easy, uncomplicated, inoffensive. A monkey could throw it together, but I hadn’t until I saw a pic of a celebrated fashion personality rocking leather pants + moto + white shirt. Easy, breezy, done. The only difference was that I punctuated my outfit with metallic booties in place of her beautiful, flesh-baring, lace-up shooties. Oh well. Canada can’t be perfect in every way.

Leather pants and moto jacket

H&M blouse (old) | Costa Blanca faux leather pants (recent) | Zara jacket (old but similar) | Aldo booties (old but I love these metallic oxfords for spring) | faux fur stole from Sears

  1. Love this look! I totally relate to how you feel as a fellow Torontonian. I cannot stand to even look at any of my boots any more. I am sick of wearing socks. I NEED warmth. This winter seems like it has been about three months longer than usual!!
